The Quest for the Ultimate Coffee Experience

HEAVEN : )

I love coffee. Anyone who knows me know how much I’m in love with it. Just like the rest of the other few million coffee drinkers, coffee gives us a sense of joy and peace whenever it’s warm touch and heavenly taste graze our lips, tongue and the rest of our whole system. Words cannot do coffee justice in any attempt to put the experience in paper. It’s like explaining the essence of love. It simply cannot be done.

Coffee is so great it transcends any form of social barrier. People from all walks of life enjoy it. From the homeless to the rich, from the leftists and the right wings, from Asian to Westerners, from black to white, etc. -we all enjoy coffee. It has become some sort of middle earth. It is a neutral element.

img168/5229/coffeefw4.jpgAnother great thing about coffee is that there are a lot of varieties and types to choose from. It has evolved from the basic coffee concoction to a wide array of caffeine masterpieces. Europeans make their coffee differently. Americans also have their own style. I’m sure the Africans and South Americans do it in their own way as well. That’s the beauty of it. It leaves us coffee enthusiasts more coffee to discover. Hence, the experience grows.

Most people have their taste buds programmed for a specific taste already. Some have already found it. Some are still searching for it. Me? Well, I’m just enjoying the experience. I’m keeping an open mind and inviting tastebuds. Truth be told, just like there are great coffee out there, there are also poorly made coffee. When I say poorly made, I pertain to bad preparation that eventually lead to spoiling the coffee gems.

img136/7144/133316103c13f54b1ecdy1.jpgWhich leads me to my next point. Coffee can only be great with a genius preparation. No matter how great the coffee ingredients are, if you just end up screwing up the preparation, you’ll just have bad coffee. Which is a waste. Coffee making is an art. More than the experience, there are also other elements that transcend it. That is why it is important that one must have the proper taste awareness and the passion that entails proper coffee making. If one really wants to find the inner greatness of something, in this case coffee, one must have the passion for it and take it in as if it was music.

img150/8163/coffeebeans4transcp5.gif I mentioned earlier that coffee is an art. Coffee is also a science. There is exactitude. There’s a huge difference between using brown sugar and white sugar. A gram more of cream greatly affects the taste as well as a gram less of it. A few more beans affects the taste this way as well as a few more drops of milk alters the experience that way. If you are going for a certain taste, you should be aware of the exatitude of ingredients. The key thing here is being exposed to as many caffeine types as possible. One must be able to taste different coffee creations in order to build that "directory of tastes" that will greatly help in the science of it. Exposure is key.

img205/8980/coffeeroastertp5.jpgThere is a difference between a coffee drinker and a coffee lover. A coffee drinker simply drinks coffee for it’s effects and the novelty of it. A coffee lover gives respect to the coffee and enjoys every second and space of its experience. He makes the relationship between the coffee and him very special and continuously creates ways on how to improve the relationship.

Hence, I, Wits Suzara, being the coffee lover that I am, is now making a pledge. My journey for a greater understanding of the coffee experience has begun. I will EXPOSE MYSELF to all kinds of coffee and CREATE MY OWN fomulations as well. I will live the art. I will learn the science. I will enjoy the experience. My quest for the Ultimate Coffee Experience has now begun.

WTF. iced white mocha, hot black vanilla or whatever, if it’s good, then IT’S GOOD. i don’t see the point why people who would prefer that particular type of beverage (not that i do) would be properly labeled as a “poser” should they claim that, for them, it is good coffee. When I say I’ll be trying out different sorts of caffeinated drinks, I don’t mean ordering every fagdamn drink Starbucks has to offer. Please. Coffee is not = to Starbucks. I hope I made my point here.

You don’t like it? Fine. But don’t judge other people who do. And show some respect to the coffee. It’s art. If the world had it your way, we would have called Van Gogh and idiot by now.

Ooooh, such angst.

I myself prefer a cappuccino. But most of the time, ordinary brewed coffee will do, whether it is in starbucks, seattles best, mcdonald’s or even aling petra’s carinderia. Coffee is still coffee, as long as it perks me up, and goes well with my cinnamon roll then I like it.

Different people, different tastes. That is how the world turns. :)

Good luck with the search for the perfect brew.

Haha. Yeah. Well I guess that only goes to show how passionate I am about coffee. My apologies to those who find my previous comments offensive.

Anyway, thank you sir Virus. It doesn’t matter where you get your coffee. It’s the experience that matters. It’s good that you enjoy and are comfortable with your coffee. “Different people, different tastes.” These words can never be more true. Enough of the coffee racism. :)
