Delifrance’s Spiked Coffee

img362/7397/delifrancelogobo1.jpgI mentioned in one of my posts my personal quest for the ultimate coffee experience. Last night, my journey began… First stop: Delifrance, Podium. I heard a few weeks ago that they are offering a new coffee treat. The product, while not really a novel concept, is still commendable precisely because Delifrance is perhaps the first cafe chain to offer such to its customers at this magnitude. The Spiked Coffee series. Yes, it’s coffee mixed with alcohol.  And I love it.

img365/4414/mayanpassionkahluajx6.jpgThey offer 5 kinds: the Irish Kiss Baileys, Irish Kiss Baileys Iced, Mayan Passion Kahlua, Mayan Passion Kahlua Iced and Sputnik Vodka Espresso. My favorites: Mayan Passion Kahlua and the Irish Kiss Baileys. Initially I thought it was going to be a milquetoast of a drink. But the first sip demolished the wall of doubt and skepticism. It was genius. The Mayan Passion Kahlua will let you in a joyriimg385/8783/mayanpassionwholert8.jpgde of caffeine bliss with buzzy aftershocks. You could vaguely taste the kahlua at first. It’s basically iced coffee with whip cream. But the dash of kahlua and the lemon-sugared rim made the experience unique. You can taste the kahlua before you taste the coffee and a hint of alcohol aftertaste ensues afterwards. If you really want to give yourself a treat after a long day’s work, this is the drink for you. It’s a very relaxing and inviting beverage.

The Irish Kiss Baileys is also a work of art. It’s stronger, bolder and more tangy. This one is naughty alright. The cup itself is sexy. The look of the drink alone gives the drinker an idea of the pack of punch it can deliver…and yet it’s appeal seduces you into a trance. It’s a good friend… but also B.I. It’s almost intimidating. A long "ahhhhh" after the first sip already declares it 100% win.

 

img364/3416/irishkissbaileysca7.jpgI think Delifrance did a great job in creating awareness for spiked coffee. Before, it was taboo. Only the adventurous enjoyed it’s novelty behind closed doors. Now, it’s the next big thing in caffeine existence. Soon, other cafes will come up with the same concept. Different mixes are introduced. Hence, a new chapter in this whole coffee saga is written. Evolution. That’s what you call evolution.

Yes. Actually that was the third of the 3 consecutive days I was at Delifrance. I’m sure you’d like it too. Pick the iced ones. Those are really good treats.

Insistent is an understatement. : ) And making blended coffee is simple. In fact, I’m already experimenting on several mixes in my attempt to create my own coffee formulas. Will probably talk about them sometime in the future.

How do you do it?

I only know of one way, but it’s kinda guaranteed to be good. Unless I have a moment of neglect, that is.

My brother, on the other hand, has mad blending skillz, and I’m sure you’d have a lot to talk about. He loves his coffee and always buy beans as I would buy books.

while i am very much interested in coffee, i have no plans of becoming a coffee nerd. it’s like basketball. you don’t have to play professional basketball, moreover in the NBA to love the game. you just need to have a TV, a couch, a bag of peanuts / popcorn and some cold soda…then you’re all set.

@virus: true! what better stuff to mix right? makulit na lasing. that’s what you’ll end up after downing several cups. that is, if don’t get your fill first. these are kinda heavy on the stomach. haha!

haha, how much did that café pay you for this post?! lol just kidding:P

isnt it a bit too risky though to drink coffee with alcohol when you’re in your break from work?:D

and btw, I shall drink genuine irish baileys and beer and whatever alcoholic drink they have to offer for you when i go there this May!!:D:D

@shaira: hahaha! they didn’t pay me anything. it just so happens that the owners are good friends of mine. and since i really enjoyed their product, i think it’s blog worthy to post here in this weird site of mine. :) The Irish have one of the coolest accents ever. Awesomeness.
