PPP Blog Monetization = Google Damnation?
June 22, 2008Yes, I know what you’re thinking. And no, it’s not gonna happen. Promise. Please don’t hate me for doing this. This is all in the name of science.
Payperpost.com is probably (if not already) one of the top blog monetization sites out there. Truth be told, I was having second thoughts of even venturing to their site. Urban legends speak of Google damnation and all sorts of Internet myths once you associate yourself with PPP sites. Alright, that was pure exaggeration. But really, I just didn’t think I have any business there. Just like I have no business going to a Venezuelan horse racing site or to a Morrocan folk dance site. I’d rather visit some geeky blog like Techcrunch or view some japanese prank videos in Youtube.
But one fateful morning while stealing some Mcdonalds wifi, I said to myself, hey if Google’s gonna kick my ass off the search engines because of this, so be it. Hence I typed in the URL…
The site is friendly and appealing. Plus they’re inviting me to earn money. An invitation to earn money. The pitch is genius. As a budding Internet marketing strategist, I’m fully aware of this approach. But Payperpost is like the Starbucks of blog monetization. Their band management is impressive. My curiosity led me to click the “sign up” button. In order to learn more about the business model, one must immerse himself in the actual business cycle.
After a few more steps, (i.e. email verification, blog registration, etc.) I was prompted to the opportunities page where there are lots of opportunities for bloggers to “reserve”. It’s neatly categorized from qualification to availability. I’m starting to see Payperpost’s business model and how this has brought them success. Every new registrant is also given the chance to earn instant $20 dollars provided they write about Payperpost.com. *ehem ehem*.
On the other hand, they also provide PPP tools where advertisers can contact the publishers (bloggers) directly. A badge can be placed on the publisher’s website that acts as an invitation to them to advertise. Nice.
My exploration of the site has been only up to this point. But I’m liking what I’m seeing so far. I dunno if this is gonna be a regular thing. But hey, a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do. Talk about word of mouth ethics eh? I want to see what’s going to happen. If my pagerank goes down to zero, then it’s true. Google does “kill” sites. I sure hope they don’t.

i don’t know if it’s just an amazing coincidence or what, but this thing happened to a friend who started posting for PPP. 3 months later her PR promptly swooped down to 0.
i signed up with PPP more than a year ago but after completing the initial process, i got too lazy to do anything about it (although PPP has been diligently emailing opportunities to me). so far, my PR has remained steady. i hope it all turns out okay for you
